HI, I've owned 2 1991 Clarions so far and created the Clarion Owners group on Yahoo Groups that has since evaporated when Yahoo pulled the plug on all groups.
The problem you ask about stems from the change from the stock 16.5 rims and tires to the more easily accessible 16" rims and tires. The original tires were very stiff 10+ ply heavy truck tires.
However as 16.5 tires were phased out and most Clarion owners have changed to 16" Radial truck tires which have a softer sidewall.
After speaking with the tire manufacturers rep for Michelin and a very knowledgeable tire guy, the solution is to run the tires 5lbs over max sidewall pressure. This is well within the tolerances of the tire and this stiffens the sidewall enough to eliminate the dangerous wobbly sway.
Everyone that has tried this including myself, the 5 lbs over agrees this solved their problem.
