New bees from Virginia , Just too delivery of our new Flagstaff 832IKSB . looking for guidance on outfitting ( stocking ) . What are the best countertop icemakers

Welcome! I'm sorry but I have no experience with the icemakers, maybe someone else here does. Great to have you join us.

We have one of those $99-150 ones that all look suspiciously like they come from the same factory, just dressed up differently. Ours is Magic Chef gotten from Home Depot on a Black Friday type sale. I like it and DW likes the ice. However it is fairly high maintenance. It works but is always out of water or full of ice or something. I shuffle the ice out of it to a container in the freezer, the big cooler, and cups regularly. Also refill it a few times a day. My wife has no interest in keeping up with all that. We are weekend type campers so I don't mind and just lump it in with the other camping type chores. But if we were full time I'm pretty sure I'd want one more automatic like in the house.

One downside with these is though they make ice and darn quick, they don't keep it. The ice reservoir isn't chilled. So not only will the ice slowly remelt, it's always "wet". So what I put in the freezer tends to freeze into a clump I have to break up later.
Another is that it's a bit noisy when dumping ice. I turn ours off at bedtime.
Last is it takes a fair amount of counter space. When needing to cook indoors it just has to go. Most of the time we don't so it's a small issue.
The amount of ice it makes keeps me and DW supplied pretty well when it's just us. However with a herd of grandkids it just lessens the need for bagged ice a bit I guess.
Not for everybody, I'm sure. I'm sure there are better ones but this one was cheap and does what it supposed to.

In addition to the above, our counter top ice maker put out quite a bit of heat. As a result we placed it on a table outside of the coach. We no longer use the ice maker.

We have one not sure the brand use in and outside the rig. Works great. I empty the basket to a container in the freezer.

Living in a RV will almost always require adjustments, While we have a residential fridge with an ice maker, we don't use it for a variety of reasons. We use an Igloo portable ice maker for our ice. We will set it up & make enough ice to fill the bin in the freezer until we run low & the repeat the process. There's only two of us so it doesn't present any problems. If we have guests, be will buy bulk ice if necessary. May not work for others, but, it works for us.
