I saw several Cyber trucks at the EAA AirVenture airshow in Oshkosh, WI. It was interesting seeing one pull a decent size travel trailer. It looks like a beast. I did a quick google on the towing capacity and it appears to be 11K lbs. In the beginning I thought Elon was nuts with this contraption but I have to say I think it's cool.
 
Yeah, you probably thought Jeff was nuts also.

Too bad that it can only pull that 11k for a hundred miles or so before needing a charge
Wonder how many watts you can put on the roof? Maybe a diesel generator in the cargo area.

11k lbs but only for 100 miles or so between charges regardless of Elon’s claims.

I haven't been to Oshkosh but my understanding is you camp in a field with no hookups. If so, how did they recharge their trucks? Generator?
Just for grins I asked an AI how long it takes to recharge on 20 amp outlet and got this back (I can't vouch for it's accuracy):

EAA AirVenture has water/electric sites and they add more every year. I've never seen so many W/E sites as I saw this year and I was lucky to use one as a friend couldn't make it and let me use his. They guy next to me pulled a very small TT with a Rivian and he used the pedestal to charge it.
 
Again, using AI (which, again, I haven't verified) says that it would take 4-6 hours on a 50 amp circuit which is pretty reasonable and makes towing with a cybertruck or Rivian look practical.
 
Read a notice from KOA about camping with an EV. The notice claims that the 50 amp service is not designed for constant 50 amp draw that is needed for an EV.
Some of the campgrounds do have dedicated chargers for EV.

A Cybertruck won’t draw 50 amps on the circuit. A Cybertruck would use a standard tesla mobile charge cord with a 14-50 dongle. It would draw a maximum of 32 amps on a 50 amp circuit.

It would draw 24 amps on a TT30 30 amp circuit.

It would draw max 16 amps on a 15-20 circuit

It would draw max 12 amps on a 15 amp circuit.

This is what a cyber truck would use. We use it frequently when charging at campsites. You can see the four dongles used. They tell the EVSE (charge unit) what the max current can be.

I wouldn’t own a Tesla again. Until you have experienced phantom braking going down the freeway at 75 mph hoping nobody slams into you and Tesla calls that “normal”. No thanks.

This wasn’t me but it happened go into S.F.

 
Too much faith in FSD. I wouldn’t do it not on the bay bridge. There are parts I really like about Tesla. The charger network is outstanding at least in CA. I filed three NHTS complaints about the phantom braking. If they fix it, I definitely would get another. Their attitude in CA is we don’t care we ARE Tesla. That’s wrong.

Hi Neal. If we do get a cybertruck it will be a few years down the road. At this point we are probably leaning back towards a model X. Probably a better fit for us. And a better fit for the garage.😂. But we have decided to stay with our model Y for a couple more years.
