Closing my rv for the season and found damaged male/femail plug. Understand this needs to be fixed but looking for feedback on what may have caused this

Most likely a surge.

I would venture to guess that you do not use a surge protector between the power pedestal and your power cord.

Hopefully you have one hard wired between the other end of the cord and the house?

This looks like a loose connection. This is heat damage, which is very dangerous.

You need to check the terminals at your breaker box internally. Make sure all connections are very tight.

This plug also looks to be a repaired plug. It needs to be opened and the connectors tightened.
