This may be a dumb question, but asking dumb questions is my MOS.

When I have the dash a/c air control set to outside air, condensation splashes all over everything below the air exchanger (genset, HWH pump primarily).

Normal?

I don't think those two large areas right and left of the white drain tube are supposed to be open???? I think all that should be enclosed and condensation go down the white drain tube. Maybe someone else can share a picture of theirs.

I had similar thoughts, but when I go back to my build pics, there it is.

I'm thinking air filters go in those spaces.

Googling around, I'm seeing other pics like yours, so it may be right as is. No answer from me then other than maybe that drain tube port is clogged?

Hmmmmmm

Would that be a Newmar or FL thing?

Good question. When at FL last I asked about the blower for my dash AC. They said it was house. I suggest inquire with Newmar.

Mine does same thing but only in recirc mode. On Spartan dash A/C repair for parts related to engine accessories has been covered under chassis warranty (compressor hose replacement and belt)

Got to the second cause and called my Profesional friend to confirm my opinion.

He confirmed that a freon leak could never cause the evaporator to freeze! I could get into the details, but instead I will just state that someone wrote an article to drum up some business, or has limited knowledge of refrigeration!

Check periodically that the drain tube is not blocked. Ours gets all types of things in it, then the condensate water goes everywhere.
Looking at our 2020 just now the large openings are open and there is foam filter material further into the "recesses"

Well, my dash a/c went kaput on this trip. I noticed it as I was slogging up Mt Everest near @Deer Springs RV Park. As an alternative, I found that running the house a/c units with the dash air set to recirculate kept things comfortable up front.

I’m certain I have a leak somewhere and there isn’t enough pressure on the low side to allow the pressure switch to engage.

Is this related to the topic of this thread? It’s certainly coincidental if not.

When low pressure ,the sw will keep the compressor clutch from engaging!

Maybe you can go to FL Gaffney and wait on standby to get it looked at as you're not far from them at @Deer Springs RV Park. I did a standby visit once, got serviced around day 3 as I showed up on Monday. Not bad.

If you are in an area where it is somewhat humid, you should leave the dash air in recirculate when you have the AC mode on. There are plenty of air paths into your coach for fresh air and you are not introducing more moisture that the coil has to remove.
