Im using a Garmin 57. Its a very capable device, works well, but more complicated and has more features than I need. It was $229 and from reading input here I now know there are some in the $60-70 range that would do just fine.

I have three different brands and I like them all. My favorite is a permanent mount blackvue single channel unit that I use in my daily driver. Great quality video and playback. Higher price point but a very robust unit.

BlackVue DR900X-1CH Plus with 64GB microSD Card | 4K UHD Cloud Dashcam | Built-in Wi-Fi, GPS, Parking Mode Voltage Monitor | LTE and Mobile Hotspot via Optional LTE Module https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09F8N94C5/?tag=rvf01-20

I also have a Garmin 57 that the DW has in her car. A great unit easy to use. Very small compact unit. Garmin tries to get you to sign up for some additional features like storage but not required.

Garmin Dash Cam 57, 1440p and 140-degree FOV, Monitor Your Vehicle While Away w/ New Connected Features, Voice Control, Compact and Discreet, Includes Memory Card https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0932FTP6D/?tag=rvf01-20

I also have a Rove which is a great value for a dashcam from Amazon. Not as robust with the features as the other two but a solid unit at an attractive price point. I use this in my coach because the suction cup mount works great for that application and I needed a unit I could put up and down on the windshield.

Rove R2-4K Dash Cam Built in WiFi GPS Car Dashboard Camera Recorder with UHD 2160P, 2.4" LCD, 150° Wide Angle, WDR, Night Vision https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074JT3698/?tag=rvf01-20

Lots of choices out there.

You just want to make sure of two things: 1) 4K or better (video quality) 2) It's always recording. My prior Garmin 65W I think it was only recorded based on events, not continuously. Verify as some others thought theirs recorded continuously when in fact it did not. I also like the Blackvue free cloud feature so I can actually call up video via my smartphone at any time and check things out, if it's still in a service bay, if the driver is taking it through a McDonald's drive through :)
