How many of you check the PH levels of your anti-freeze? I've seen engines in the shop at the heavy truck dealership I used to work for where the PH had gotten off in the coolant and had pitted the bore liners so bad it ate all the way through them!!! First clue was coolant in the oil. Of course a complete overhaul was needed at that point. Just wondering if anyone has ever checked their PH level or do you know how often Cummins recommends it for their 8.3L or 9L engines? Are there tablets to drop in the coolant reservoir to bring the PH level up? I need to study up on this...............

Our 2017 DS did not have extended coolant and required PH to be checked monthly, I have to admit I checked more like every other month. 2020 DS has extended coolant and checked annually.

There is an additive to bring the PH to proper level

I can’t say I’ve heard of pH doing that. I have always been focused on SCAs, which I know will do damage if too low. But to answer your question, I check my SCA levels about once per quarter and the strips I use also check pH.

I check the SCA quarterly in the radiator. I was asked by a tech at Gaffney why so often? Proactive I guess. Do you check the pH in your Oasis system? I check mine yearly. The range should be between 7.5 to 11.

@stang37 What product(s) do you use to adjust PH in you oasis?

Haven't had to adjust the PH yet. A friend with a 2013 unit who's ph was below 6.0 just changed the fluid. His looked really bad. It's costly and a little involved but not hard to do. He followed the ITR directions and finished in about 6 hours.
