I just had all my annual services done for my 2022 Ventana on the house and chassis side at my home Newmar dealer. From day one I have always shown my appreciation for a job well done by giving my technicians a gratuity. I have also given a gratuity to my service writer as she has always taken care of me getting in if an issue arises and I'm only in the area for a couple of days. Service work is expensive, as we all know, and we all want and expect to receive excellent work done on our coaches given what labor rates are today.

I have had the same technician on the house side from delivery and on the chassis side I have a highly qualified young lady servicing my engine, generator, etc. They both do excellent work and I believe they go the extra mile for me because I have always shown my appreciation for a job well done by giving them a gratuity.

I'm curious if members here do the same?

Without fail

Yep, absolutely.

I’m sure no one wants to answer no to this but I’ll start and say no, I do not. I tipped my FPU tech and after that have not tipped techs at Newmar or Gaffney.

It all depends on whether or not they make more money than me. 🤣 Do you make more money than your techs? How much more? How much do you tip them? Are your techs connected to you in some way? Do you know the owner? Do you get to bud in line? So many questions, so little time 🤣. Thank you for sharing your wealth. 👍

I have not tipped in the past….but often think about bringing a couple dozen donuts….

I do but thinking about stopping. I don’t see any “beyond expected” treatment. I still have to wait a week after dropping off just to get into a bay for the service. I, always, text and ask or an appointment at least 2 weeks in advance.

Just don’t feel “ the love”

Maybe someone else gave a bigger tip? 🤣

never have, never will, nobody ever tipped me for doing my job

I once met a friend at a Pizza Resturant. After the meal we both set a tip next to our plates after paying our bill. Once out in the parking lot my friend said he was going to go back in and use the Men's room. The next time I was at the resturant the waiter told me off for not leaving him a tip last time and then disapeared before I could ask any questions. When I got home I got to thinking about it and I called the resturant to talk with the manager. I told him the situation. It seems that the only tip that was left, was next to my friends plate and it was less than what I said I had left. Me and the manager came to the conclusion that my friend had taken the waiters tip. I made sure after that to give my tip directly to the waiter. Tips can be in the form of a thank you but some take them for granted. Tips can also be a form of being a bribe, if they are big enough. If a person accepts a tip and puts the tipper's interests ahead of other customers, he/she has just become a Rich Man's Bitch. No pride in that life style for either party. 😉

No. I do not tip. Techs probably earn more than I do as a retiree. And, if a law passes "no tax on tips" I would DEFINITELY not tip. I'm required to pay tax on ALL my income, fixed as it is. I believe everyone should pay his or her fair share, and report all income regardless of the source. Then we could rid of people like Elon.

why get rid of Elon? How does Space, Tesla, or Starlink affect tipping?

Of course. Delete that last comment if it bothers you. I thought it was a question that asked me how I tipped, not how I felt. But, if you feel differently, go for it. And, I'll think twice about posting to this page. I'll try to be "kinder."

I’ve been thinking about the details but I’m going to decline all tips “suggested” by some machine with a screen. I will only tip living humans and if they did more than I did to order, get my food and clean the table.
My only reservation is that no one will get my reason for the action.
