Yes more than a few times. It is when camp grounds are few and far between. You can also overnight at gas stops like Loves, Flying J and I think Petro.
Yes I have been known to. Today however I do it differently. Today I simply recline my seat and catch a couple of hours just like I would without the trailer behind me.
After all, that is what they were made for, not camping!
We did once and felt very uncomfortable. We will stop during the day for a nap if we have a "very rare" long travel day but we always have a destination campground.
Never, we only travel 250-300 miles a day, like to be in campground by 2:30pm, never in a rush, sleep in and have relaxing drive, no stress (retired, so no hurry)
Haven't, but wouldn't have any qualms to.
Problem is, I have my bed on a slide, and would have to extend to use it.
Luckily, however, it is a rear slide, and wouldn't be sticking out the side.
Cracker Barrel is my preferred quickie overnight stop.
Yes, but never near a big city. The relatively new Loves RV Travel Stops are really the solution if you need a rest stop and don't what to go through all the formality of booking into an RV park. Some are very big now.
I usually stop too late to grab a spot so I plot my trips with Walmarts. I drive at least 600 miles a day. I do not want to go to a CG, unhook, park, then get up at 5 and hook up to leave. I prefer to have the ability to use a slide and there are not many spots at rest areas that I would do that at.
On the Ohio turnpike several times. Hard to beat the convenience and not having to exit and make my way to a campground. Granted I only have to had to do this heading to or from the Mothership.
Depending on the rest area, I probably wouldn't sleep well. I had a situation once where I was so tired I had to get a nap for a few hours, I think I was up all night the night before probably from a sick dog or something. That was useful. I hear some rest areas are better catered to RV's, that would probably be fine but I'd make my best effort to use a campground, harvest host, or love's stop. I prefer to be safe. I've never done the walmart thing, Harvest Hosts in parking lots of restaurants/wineries are about as sketch as I want to get.
