On the trip from TX on I 20 at 63-65 mph, ambient temp 98 F, the dash lit up with a message ReGen Active. Shortly afterwards I get a WARNING safe tire temp exceeded!
The passenger side inside dual tire went to 174f. The driver’s side to 173f.
Slowed down to 55 mph, temps started to decline, slowly.
Once the ReGen cycle completed temps went to 140ish F.

Is this normal?! Seems like a heat shield needs to be installed around the cat.?

According to Shane at Spartan this is “normal” operations.
Seems very dangerous to me.

I've never experienced overheated tires during regen, so far....

I have not seen my MH tires go up like that. My passenger toad did climb a little and I tilted my exhaust nozzle to the curb side about 15 degrees and it dropped it down some.

Well it’s nice that these systems have advanced to the point where they actually keep the driver informed (FINALLY!!!) but I agree that tire temp is higher than I would like. I think you need a second or third opinion. Also ask a Freightliner shop. The systems are a bit different and it would be interesting to compare responses.
