Dometic two step awning

Has anyone tried to put out their manual awning and forget to release the lock? I have a Domectic "two step" awning on my 2006 Aspect. We were at the WIT rally a few years ago and the Domectic people there came out and helped me understand how to use it. Since then, we have enjoyed the awning a lot and for those hot summer days it has come in handy. This past weekend I was in a hurry and forgot to unlock it before pulling it out and there was no "clicking" noise coming from it as I was extending it out. I tried to reset the awning a few times but with no good results.
Can anyone help me in resetting the mechanism so it "clicks" again as I extend the awning to lock it in place?
