I'd like to hear from anyone that has a residential frig in an relatively new rv (2021 or newer preferably) and does a few days at a time dry camping. And, if the generator comes on often due to the batteries dropping voltage. I am interested in the 2021 Holiday Rambler or Fleetwood 32RW. Both come standard with the Residential frig. I had a residential frig in a 2015 Thor Fourwinds. Generator would come on too often due to the coach batteries dropping below 12v. I am curious if the newer RVs with residential refrigerators are more efficient. I prefer the LP frig, but having a hard time finding them since they are an option. Thank you

It all comes down to your house battery setup. How many? What is the total amp hour rating? Are you considering adding solar?

Our HR is a 2019 so older than you are asking about. We do have a residential frig and have the auto gen feature. We park it in the driveway the day before we take off so we can get it loaded and start making ice. The generator only comes on once in a while. Remember, things like microwave, AC, outlets and several other things also use electricity. I have never exactly timed when and how long it runs but it does not seem objectionable.

While our rig is setup for boondocks we have never had an issue with running out of power using the residential refrigerator. The Rv has 600 amps of Lithium iron phosphate batteries. We have 1500 watts of solar panels but can charge the battery bank at 20% of capacity per hour with the on board 7kW generator. Approximately 4-5hours for full charge from approximately 0 charge to 100%

Thank you everyone for your information. I was at the Phoenix RV show yesterday and obtained additional information. The rv we are interested in has 4- 6v deep cycle batteries, 2000w inverter, 5500w generator, 100w solar. Unfortunately, the unit was not at the show. I emailed Fleetwood this morning asking the make/model of the refrigerator. I believe from what I saw installed in similar RVs the frig is the Whirlpool Contour model WRT519SZDM01. Specs show 6.5amps. I know the 100w solar is not nearly enough. Does the solar controller need to be upgraded if adding additional panels?

Solar charge controllers come in varying sizes. Voltage / charging amps ours is 100/ 50 it handles our 600w 24v panels and 400Ah lithium batteries with no issues for our 21 cu ft whirlpool residential frig. We only use the auto generator start when the dog is with us.
