Hello from North Texas..! Me.. originally from Long Beach CA born and raised for 61 years, retired network engineer (citibank), and commercial waterproofing consultant; Wifey: originally from Las Cruses NM and works as a financial analyst for a major auto manufacture. My wife and I are doing our research for a 5th wheel for the first part of our retirement. When doing our research we've found that:
1. at the 35' foot length the camping 'spots' decline dramatically, so having a 35' trailer (or less is better when trying to find a 'spot').
2. right now, tow vehicles are extremely high priced due to the shortage of microchips that the truck manufactures need to make new trucks/cars. (and now the truck maybe more expensive than the RV.
3. jayco eagle, and montana high country lines are built for full time living and can withstand temperatures above 100 and as low as 0 degrees. (is this true? (these are the two specific lines were looking at)
4. phasing out of LP/electric refrigerators which provide for a longer boondocking.. (or can solar work?)
And does it really matter which truck manufacture you use? I've been looking at the F250 SD and the RAM 2500. Obviously both would have the 6.7 liter engine
