Would appreciate any insight & opinions on the pro's & con's of Hwy 36 vs Hwy 34 to and from Estes Park, CO from I-25. during the summer. Driving a 45' Class A with a tow.

Are you camping up in Estes? To be honest we have driven both of those roads and visited Estes but we have always camped down in Loveland and driven our Harley up there. I'm not saying you can't get a 43' DP up there I just saying I would not enjoy doing it especially during the busy summer season.

I went to HS in Loveland back in the 70s. Great place to live in those days, not so good today.

34 is twisty and very slow going in a large vehicle.

36 is the better choice IMO.

Loveland to EP is about 30 miles and a 2550' elevation increase.

Longmont to EP is about the same but the road has far fewer curves.

Yes we will be Camping in Estes Park. Managed to get a reservation for the time slot we needed now just need to figure out the "best" route in & out. Plan on spending a good amount of time in the park so Estes seemed to be a great place to base.

I suspect Rt-34 would get you up there a little quicker. I can't remember for sure, and I am probably getting mixed up with one of our canyon road rides out in that area, but there are some restrictions on vehicles lengths in the area. You may just want to check you trucker's atlas in you have one, if not the Colorado DOT site has all the same information.

Certainly a great area to be in.
