The Gun Show Loophole
Did you ever wonder what the liberals are talking about when they say there is a Loophole in the law at Gun Shows. Well I am a registered FFL holder, ( Federal Firearms Licensee ) and a Class C….. Suppressors & Silencers Seller. I have been doing gun shows since 2012 and would like to enlighten you on the process.
First EVERY firearm sale from a gun show FFL, has be run through PICS ( PA Instant Check System) this is really (NICS) (National Instant Check System) in which every state, every new firearm purchase has to be run through for approval. No approval, no firearm. All the same rules and regulations apply just as a sale from the gun shop. Long arm or handgun will be run through PICS.
Now here is the kicker. There may be some vendors at the gun shows that are not a licensed FFL holders. The PA firearms law states, you are allowed, as a private seller, to sell a personal USED long arm, rifle or shotgun, to another PA resident without a PICS check. This is legal in the state of PA. You MUST use a FFL dealer to purchase or transfer a handgun sale privately among current PA residents.
You will also see customers walking around a gun show with rifles slung over their shoulder with for sale signs on them. Again, this is legal in the state of PA. I don’t agree with this practice, but it is the law.
This practice may change in the future. But for now, it is still in place. If you have any questions regarding the sale of firearms, please don’t hesitate to call.
