I just posted about an exhaust leak discovered recently in Cummins forum for those interested.

I had a high pitched squeal at 70k that turned out to be a warped exhaust manifold. No new manifold was available nationwide. Ended up resurfacing the old manifold. Unbelievable that this should happen at 70k miles on an engine used throughout the industry. And then to not have parts available is inexcusable.

I too had an exhaust leak on my DSDP at 7 years and 60,000 miles. Freightliner in Las Vegas diagnosed a warped exhaust manifold and replaced it, but apparently failed to torque the top two nuts holding the turbocharger to the exhaust manifold. 800 miles into our first trip after the repair, both of the top nuts securing the turbocharger vibrated loose and the turbocharger gasket blew out. I lost both boost pressure and the engine brake in rural Wyoming. After a trip to home depot to get 17mm nuts, I was able to limp into Casper and the Kenworth dealer fortunately was able (willing) to do the repair. We cut our trip short and headed home. That's the closest I've come to being stranded on the side of the road.
