Finally Freedom to Travel - Advise Appriciated

Good Day to everyone! I finally reached retirement age, and plan to live in a Motorhome and drive around. One of my first questions is.... If I buy a class c motorhome... Do I have to "upgrade" the engine power and drivetrain to handle pulling a travel trailer behind it? I know for my regular pickup truck (F450 diesel) its about $20K to remove and rebuild the engine, so I assume for a motorhome would probably be similar if not more??? So buying a higher mileage vehicle with a "lower" price might be of interest and replace the engine with something with the proper power? Or is it better to just buy a "better" vehicle and not be bothered with all the work that will entail? I appreciate everyones advice/opinion about the "best" way to pull an RV behind a motorhome.

I doubt the engine will be your limiting factor. Look very carefully at the frame and brakes before you start thinking about power.

GVWR of the motorhome vs it's unloaded weight and the tongue weight of your trainer.

GCWR and the GVWR of the motorhome and trailer together.

Given the utility trailers some guys tow, it may be possible with a small enough trailer. But then you find yourself without a car for any day trips or other running around you want to do.

Thanks Rosy for the info I can look into while researching possible options. The main idea was to pull a good size livable travel trailer to extend my living space. I'm only planning to move from place to place every year two, unless I get really board. It will be my full time permanent living/work spaces. Still need to do deeper research in being able to go and stop, most important things to figure out before choosing a path of no return.

Most class c’s have a 5000# tow capacity. Our 2021 E450 has 7500#. This is factored in the combined weight. GCWR 22,000 for us.
Towing something to drive around will come in handy. Are you planning to tow a cargo trailer with personal items, or a TT?
