Bob Wells put out an important for all, we should thank him for his efforts.

We took a trip from Indiana to Oregan a few years ago, I booked camp ground sites for a night all the way there and back,I felt more secure than in a parking lot, maybe some camp ground oners could offer more sites for short stay only, with minimum amenities.
First come first serve.

We haven't had the opportunity to travel a lot yet, but looks like a great way to travel and still have neighbors for the security.
Thanks for the heads up.

The auto logging feature in newer trucks monitor drive time and report violations. Unfortunately the driver has no 'fudge room' on logs now a days.
Occasionally you see a truck stopped on the exit ramp of a closed truck stop. It may be the closed Rest Stop was a surprise to a trucker "out of time".
A trucker cannot choose a campground to stop at.

Bob is spot on with this video.

Auto logs shut off trucks

Auto logs shut off trucks can refer to the Electronic Logging Device (ELD) feature in some commercial vehicles, which is designed to track and monitor driver hours of service. According to the search results, the ELD does not shut down the truck if the driver is out of hours, but instead sends a notification to the owner or dispatcher. This is a safety feature to prevent accidents caused by driver fatigue.
However, there are also some aftermarket solutions available that can disable the auto start/stop feature in certain vehicles, such as the Auto Stop eliminator mentioned in one of the search results. This device can be installed to turn off the feature permanently or allow the driver to turn it back on if desired.
It’s worth noting that disabling the auto start/stop feature may not be recommended by the manufacturer, and it’s essential to ensure that any modifications comply with local regulations and safety standards.

The quick one night stopovers are becoming a “Thing”

Thank you for that Joe! What an opportunity to help the less fortunate (not). Maybe someone with a heart will do something like that for those in need!!!

This should be included with every rv purchase and rental. Very well done. I have always looked at it this way and behaved accrdingly.

Joe’s point should also be included in every RV packet.

Clearly this quick stops are not designed for free or discounted stops.
State or county level camping is subsidized to a certain extent. And if you look hard enough you can find free parking with full hookups.
Typically not discussed by folks that use these facilities because they don’t want to loose the free spots.
