Newly retired couple looking to meet fellow rv owners.
Are there any Forest River/ Sunseeker owners out there?
Anthony & Marie

Welcome to the forum and enjoy retirement. Joining FMCA or Owners club (Forest River) is a great way to meet other RVers with similar interests.

It is important to research brands and models thoroughly. First there was a Glut of orders causing quality issues and now there is a slowing industry causing manufacturers to cut back, causing quality issues. There are a number of recalls out on the Sunseeker

And lots of BBB complaints about Forest River quality and warraty issus.

and another source from IRV2 forum http://www.irv2.com/forums/f87/considering-a-forest-river-sunseeker-311755.html

Forest River does not appear to support the Customer with warranty claims. Surprising as Forest River is owned by Berkshire Hathaway.

I currently have a Coachmen, owned by Forest River...they have provided “ok” warranty service, but it takes months to get in the correct parts. ?

Welcome @Retiredrvers (Anthony and Marie). Great to have you here with us. Welcome aboard.

Were looking into a couple of different floor plans.
Quality of the Sunseeker looks pretty decent.
Class C 30+ Foot units.
Your thoughts count here!!!

Any problematic issues that we should be mindful of to help narrow our search would help...
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to RVS. This is a good place to find good information.

We had a Forest River "Solera" a few years back. I believe this model is now called the Sunseeker MBS.

It was a good, though small coach. In the 2+ years we owned it, it gave us good service and and had no real issues. As we began to spend more time on the road, however; it became apparent to us (YMMV) that we needed something a bit more spacious. That led to the 2014 Newmar Ventana LE 3436 and then to the current coach, a 2018 Newmar Mountain Aire 4047.

I think most people follow a somewhat similar path; starting small and then working up. Do your research, look at (and drive, if possible) a wide variety of coaches before committing to a purchase. And, don't overlook a clean, well-maintained coach that is a few years old.

Good luck.

We started out looking at Class C’s. Really liked the floor plans on some Forest River Foresters. But...the cab is really uncomfortable, particularly for the passenger. The doghouse takes up so much room that the passenger has to put their legs way off to the curbside...at the time, there were only Ford chassis’ available. I understand that the Chevy based ones have a bit more room. Then we learned that there were “short” Class A’s. At the time we didn’t want to shell out the $$$ for a DP, as it was our first RV. Now, 2 years later, we’ve ordered a 35’ Newmar New Aire...
