My 19 DS4369 had a very disturbing knocking/bumping sound in the front end when hitting heavy dips/bumps.
A bit hard to explain, but this sounded like the generator was lifting off the rails and slamming back down. Now, I’ve heard from a couple mechanics that the generator does have some freeplay that can rattle around.
However, I refused to accept this as normal...so, I presented this to Spartan when I was at their plant in Michigan last week. The mechanic pretty much knew right away what the problem, and fix, was. The A-arms are supposed to have shims placed against the bushings to take up the excess play; mine did NOT have them.
So, with the shims added, my Dutch Star is diving into bumps and riding through them smooth and quiet!
