We will be taking our first trip this week, flat towing for the first time ever. We had a driveshaft disconnect installed, now we are hearing varying opinions on other thing we need to do; disconnect battery, pull fuses. Also unsure how to keep steering wheel free. A tone else out there towing older trucks like ours, with some tips, & do's & dont's????

You don’t mention any kind of auxiliary braking system, but that is a very important aspect of flat towing any vehicle. It is especially important that it has a break-away capability to stop the towed vehicle if it should somehow get loose. You don’t want it crashing into an oncoming vehicle or running over pedestrians.
