Fuel Filler Bib—Use one?

I want to get something to help keep diesel fuel off the side of the coach. I was thinking about a bib thingy. Do they work? Anyone use one? If so, which one?

When I did my stainless I added a stainless bib on each side.

I finally figured out how to not splash diesel down the side of my Newmar. I calculated about how many gallons it would take then when I got within 6 or 7 gallons from my estimate I went as slow as the pump would go. If it clicked once I was done at that really slow pump speed.

That is what is so nice about my new F350. Stick that commercial pump in and let er rip. It shuts off without blasting diesel out and I can still pump a little to top it off.

It does, to a large extent. The other thing I do to protect the rig from the fuel, is purchase fuel absorbent
pads and tuck them under the nozzle when pumping. When it pukes back (happens sometimes even when I slow it down as Joe mentioned above) the pad absorbs the fuel and I can just throw it out.

I bought these and cut each sheet into 4 quarters which makes a good size to catch the fuel. I keep them in the front compartment under the driver window.

The fuel absorbent pads, after use, can be repurposed as fire starters for your camp fire.

I've also tried slowing down the nozzle towards the end which helps. I've used folded aluminum foil and cut a half moon out (rough diameter as the filler tube) and curl the foil into the area so that if it dumps it doesn't hit the side of the rig. Works but a pain....

So yeah, I stopped that and also try to slow down the fill near what I think is the end not only for this reason but also to hope some of the foaming goes down so I can get more diesel in. In the end, is diesel really going to hurt anything? I do wipe it down if it happens but I'm also typically the dirtiest Newmar on the road

It will make a difference over time. My KS showed the effects of years of diesel drippings. It will eat up the clear coat eventually. If you trade every few years it won’t make a difference.

In the end it is a spill on the ground that others have to walk through. Diesel doesn't evaporate like gas so it is there until someone cleans it up.
