Doing the initial software updates on the RV 1095. The initial update downloads take a very long time. 30 mins in and still working on downloading, yikes!

That has been my experience as well, I attribute it to just low bandwidth allocation at Garmin to their update servers.

You can also update and manage through the Garmin Express app on your PC.

I have three Garmin products. A Dashcam and two GPS all service using the Express app. Even with only one bar on our hotspot It only takes a few minutes to do all three. I don't have a 1095 though. I have the RV 660. That might be the difference.

Some have been quick and some have been like yours. Probably large since the first one after purchasing.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they have bad bandwidth on their side either.

Garmin downloads have been dead slow for me since 2013, even when I had a 100Mbps+ hardwired service.
