I was setting the Garmin 760 for our return home on Saturday that has a feature called areas to avoid which let’s you set two points on the map and save it. This feature is under settings. When you set your destination it will route you around it. I wanted to avoid Los Angeles traffic, and it planned a route perfectly albeit a little longer.

I am not sure what happened but my Garmin failed me today. On my way home purposely avoiding Los Angeles the trip planning app set up a route that I wanted to take. When I got to the road to go west it told me to continue straight for 31 miles and turn left there. I looked tonight on a map and that would have been disastrous. I still turned heading west and the Garmin took a long time to figure where I was and going. This is concerning especially if I was going somewhere I don’t know well. I filed a routing error report with Garmin. Hopefully they will have some recommendations.
