I have Girard G5000 slide out toppers. Today I noticed a problem with one end coming loose. IMG_2941.jpegIMG_2938.jpegIMG_2940.jpeg

We are in a red flag wind warning with gusts of 70mph, and I was afraid this would get worse.

Doing some research and with help of others, I figured out that a pvc type tube was inserted In the channel and into the awning loop.

The ends of this are cut and a screw is inserted to expand/lock it in place. If you look at my pictures above you will see the screw and a broken piece of the original tubing.

Approx 6 inches is missing.

One tip was to use #10 wire. I found something that appears to work, and is similar material to the oem.

It’s an 8inch glow stick that can be made into a necklace etc.

I took one and cut each end and cleared the glow stick stuff out. I then inserted it and ran the screw in. So far looks like original. Will update after some wear and tear.

Here is the original piece, which is a tad bit larger, next to a glow stick tube.
