Anyone (here) stay at Harris Ranch since the RV Park officially opened and they disallowed boondocking in the parking lot (my keyboard lost the question mark 🤔). Seems they charge $100 for hookups and $50 for dry camping in the new park. Next week we are arriving late and leaving early (with hopefully a Harris Ranch steak in between). But I do not really want to spend $50 if I do not not have to. Any insight would help 🤔 Blessings

We drove by Harris Ranch two days ago. Thousands of beef cattle, from hereford to angus, in the feed lots there. I cannot imagine camping near that odorous place.

Edited to add: It just opened and its not near the stockyards. Its south of the feed lots. WHEW!!

Drove by Harris ranch yesterday. The timing for an overnight stop has never worked for us. When going north or south on the 5, we'll overnight at Rolling Hills casino at Corning or at Bravo Farms at Kettleman City or at the Walmart at Los Banos. All three overnight stops are free. We've deleted Harris Ranch from our list of free overnight stops after they started charging.

Thank you and sorry for those that do not have a clue what I am referring to. Here is a link...

Only 2 and a half hours from home, we can take off late and get there at dinner time. They serve very high quality meat and both restaurants are top notch. RVs used to be allowed in their parking lot, but they recently completed a new RV park. We are going to give it a try.

it was mentioned that (I would imagine $50 would not buy a steak.) and even though it may not buy a 24 oz. Porterhouse, $60 will get you a tender 14 oz. ribeye Trust me...it is good stuff 😉

I heard they still have free RV parking adjacent to the TESLA charging area.

IF you are ever in the area, stop and check it out. They have nice bathrooms if nothing else.

Blessings

I am the one that mentioned the $50 steak and even though I am on the carnivore diet, going well, I will not be partaking in any $60 steaks. Nor am I likely to find myself that far into Cali. I had amazing steak almost 50 years ago working in Texas and again 30 years ago in Texas. 4 years ago I was in Texas for 7 weeks and had a hard time finding a steak and then it was $50 to $60. I passed. Grew up on deer meat, had moose burger for supper tonight, and find that pork loin and shoulders on the Big Green Egg are great. Beef is not on the menu.

Venison and Moose meat is a rare treat for us. I have a few hunter friends so it does show up occasionally. Have a good circle of fishermen friends so a wide variety of fish is also on the menu. Harris Ranch is simply a treat for us. I would not spend $60 for a ribeye anywhere else, but once in a blue (or pink) moon we will splurge at an overnight at Harris Ranch. We will get in too late to hit the restaurants this trip, so just looking for a place to park until the sun comes up. Blessings
