We a couple of Montana 5th wheel campers that we used pretty all over the west, mid-west, and south. A couple years ago we sold the F350 and 5th wheel while we were in the process of downsizing our lives. Now that we are almost downsized, we are thinking of getting a 26ft TT we can tow with an F150 that has the MaxTow package. We are leaning towards a Brinkley or maybe a Grand Design.

I have an F150 3.5 EcoBoost Fx4 w/Max tow package. The specs are 11,000# tow capacity and 850# hitch weight. I always figure half of that for the real world.

I'm pulling a Grand Design MKE which has a dry weight of 5000# and a hitch weight of 525. It pulls it good, however the gas mileage is not great (8MPG). The MLE has similar specs but we liked the layout of the MKE better b/c it has much more counterspace. We were skeptical about the Murphy bed but love it. Same with the lack of a dining table, but we don't miss that either. We eat outside whenever we can, and when to do eat inside we use a couple chairs. All in all, I think it's a perfect couples trailer. Due to the shorter length, we can also get into areas of some parks you can't with a longer RV.

I've never weighed it loaded but I would guess probably 5500 & 600-650 on the hitch weight. I am not totally convinced the weight distribution hitch makes much difference.

I wouldn't want to pull anything longer or heavier that what we've got. A lot depends on balance.

I am considering a sway bar to the rear truck axle and probably air bags just for the ride factor.

Hope this helps you decide on a good match for your truck.
