Used to tune my carborated cars. I get it.
Yup, carbs....Jeeps had 'high altitude carb kits' back in the day. Fuel injection changed the need for that unless it's manually controlled.

Polaris ATVs we had a high altitude adjustment to be made in their transmissions. Why? I dunno, but it was. Faster lockup maybe?
 
Thin air makes fire act differently. It provides less fuel.
yeah....but a way I think of it is, thin air is less air, so the same ratio of fuel will provide too much fuel vs, the fuel/air ratio. That's how I had to explain it to my wife. She nodded in understanding...or maybe she just wanted me to finally shut up....
