Above driver side window. My 1999 Dutch Star has it on top side of drivers side window towards the front

It depends on the quality and configuration of the antenna. Since it is not a metal vehicle, you need a new (no ground plane) antenna. Look for a reputable CB shop that installs them on eighteen wheelers. I had mine done at one. Excellent results.

I only wish there were intelligent people to talk to other than in traffic jams.
