In the recent discussion regarding Entegra going to Tiffin some mentioned the hung wall design used by Entegra (formerly) and Newmar. I admittedly am not familiar with that and what the pro's/con's are. If anyone could explain for me and others to learn from that would be great.

Hung wall is stick and brick design. A wall is built and 2 external layers are attached (glue & screw) while inter bat insulation is used. Advntages ate interior wiring can be done on the walls, and often insulation is higher R value.

Disadvantages are they show more curves and are not as rigid.

Bonded walls are assembled in layers that are sandwiched. Produces very flat, very rigid walls.

Glad you asked this as I had the same exact question.

I did some research on the insulation of styrofoam used in the bonded walls vs fiberglass.

Styrofoam is superior. I found this quote:

Here is a simple comparison: R-Value (insulation rating) per inch of thickness of the best fiberglass batt insulation (Newmar) vs the best PU foam insulation (Tiffin). Fiberglass is 3.8. PU foam is 8. So foam is more than twice as effective insulating than fiberglass. Ever have a beer cooler insulated with fiberglass? So Tiffin wins the thermal insulation race

Fiberglass insulation is much quieter. That’s why Newmar is so quite in a rainstorm.

This video does a great job explaining the two methods.
