I found a great used Bay Star 3408 - does it have slideout issues that I need to worry about?

Hi,

I'm looking at buying a 2023 Bay Star 3408 from a private seller that is 2,000 miles from here. I had it inspected by an inspector that I found on nrvia.org.

Overall the inspection went really well, but one of the issues is with the slideouts (it seems to me that every RV has slideout issues sooner or later, but maybe that's just me). The inspector thought that the slideout was misaligned, but the seller believes that the slideout is properly aligned "NOW", but was not when he bought it new in 2024. He had to have it aligned at the dealer after he bought it as it came from the factory mis-aligned. He believes (and it makes sense to me), that when the "trim" was put on the slideout at the factory it was installed to fit perfectly on a mis-aligned slideout and now that the slideout is properly aligned, the trim is not.

Here are a few pictures (I have more that will help).

Does this sound plausible to you? Have you (or anyone that you know seen/experienced the same thing)?

Don't look at the trim look a the the gap, it is misaligned. I've never experienced any issues with mine and it's a 2015.

The gaps are off. I would be most concerned with how it looks low. Newmar slides do shift around side to side depending on how level or off level the coach is when they are moved. If it still looks like this after opening it and reclosing while on level ground then I would book a trip to the factory after I purchased it to have it corrected. It would not stop me from purchasing it. Be aware, it is on a F53 chassis and they can be very busy to drive without investing in some suspension improvements
