Question I Want An RV

hi guys anybody wanna share ur story, I wanna learn from succesful people how u got there, I just wanna get there and ur there so, I d like to chat, learn, ask . So if anyone wanna share ur story and chat, let me know!

Id also like to custom design some RVs. Maybe a job idea

Work very hard, save your money...save a little longer...and keep saving.

We aren't rich, but each of our six RVs over the past 25 years have been paid for in full when we walked out of the showroom. It wasn't an easy accomplishment but we didn't want to create a financial burden.

If that's not possible for you, then I'd suggest you find a good, clean used unit rather than thinking you have to buy new. Let someone else take the initial loss.

As for custom designing an RV - I think there are plenty of RV brands, models, variations out there owned by major corporations. It would take a ton of investment to get your foot in the door in competition with them.

Dream big, but keep it real.

I keep things that work well for very long periods of time, so it has been important not to choose rv units with compositions known to degrade terribly when typical aging issues take their toll over time.

My preference from that perspective has been to avoid the wood frame / wavy skinned units and membrane covered wood roofs.

Our rv's have been aluminum wall and roof frame, aluminum roof skin, and the current Intech trailers are also aluminum base frame and aluminum exterior skin, to boot. Aluminum framing is more tolerant than wood of rainwater leaks that may occur!

Friends of mine with diesel pushers enjoy well-turned out fiberglass end caps, composite sidewall exterior skins and aluminum or compositr exterior basement doors, so generally are properly constituted for longevity.

If you are indeed handy enough to build out your own rv from scratch, I would suggest that you perhaps look for a dowdy or dated interior diesel pusher with a solid driveline and sound exterior, then gut the interior, building that portion to suit yourself.

Lots of aging DP MH's out there that are not pretty enough for a prospective buyer's wife to enthusiastically embrace, but for a self-build project will have important reusable basics already in place such as fresh/grey/black tankage, generator and basements with wet bay.

Consider aldo the time required to build up your own. Some people start with a bare passenger bus, then have to deal with getting it "all the way there". Often see those for sale unfinished, too much effort for the initiator to complete...

Adding to the above. There is no savings to building your own. Materials a small consumers purchases, fails to have the volume price tag.

appreciete the thoughts... when I said custom design I meant decide every detail not build myself.

I came here not because I m done but because I'm beginning and people already there could share real wisdom, not about just RV but life. how u got there. To me RV is often symbol ur doing well, so, if anyone likes to chat and share story teach me, and stuff, I could leave email here, if that's allowed by the forum

I'm 26 not from US but that didn't stop me from dreaming big. I'd like to just talk, that's the only way I can learn, from people already there. so if ur bored wanna share ur story just, we can do it in email

I really think when u finally get to do what u love and know best, money just comes and there's ur nice RV, but RV's the crown, I need to build something first, so if someone reading this walked similar path to build it from scratch, or just rich and wise, Id like to talk and absorb knowledge, that will get me there too, potentially thank you
