My RV got stolen from Camping World's service lot and things aren't going so well or swiftly. Image that!

I've been to my local Camping World a couple times in the past month and it seems everything is unlocked all the time but the perimeter fence is high, robust and locked more often than not. I'm very sorry to hear this happened to you. Is it Camping World, the local fuzz or your insurance company that's the bottleneck in getting everything settled? Was it in the middle of the day? Seems at night would require knocking down a hefty gate if that location is anything like the one closest to me. Is there a chance it was an inside job? I've heard some of these places don't pay great and that can attract the kind of employee that will work for not great pay.

That's crazy. Sorry for your loss. Losing all the personal "stuff" inside would be difficult.
First a disclaimer - We do not write insurance for retail stores so I have more questions than answers. It seems reasonable that when a service department takes your unit in, they would be responsible for it's care and safety. Although they could not control things like floods and tornados, keeping things safe and secure seems to be a store issue.
Hope this works out well for you.

A local RV storage lot, operated by a sales and repair used RV dealer, had a nasty record of RVs going missing out of their storage lot.

The saddest part is, they've had it for 8 months, so I told my insurance to call them, being CW got paid back in last August, so March 2nd they decided to start work on it and it was gone, so they have no clue why it got stolen. I'd say before January 27th.

I know when my truck was hit and it was taking too long to iron out the details of a very poorly fitting hood/fender gap, it was parked outside the body shop and got a nasty, almost intentional looking door ding. The service manager said sorry about your luck. Fortunately it was at the same dealership I got my first truck and from the same salesman. We got him involved, his manager and ultimately the dealership owner, it took that level of involvement to get something rectified that couldn't have happened with caring and competent workers. The gap was massaged to look better but still never looked as good as factory.

I also heard about a woman's car getting flooded at a dealership, as a function of where they parked it. It had been there too long stemming from the '08 GM ignition recall that it fell under and was waiting a long time on parts to correct. If memory serves me correctly, it was one that was required to not be driven on the road until all repairs were performed, not just one of the sometimes minor inconvenience recalls.

I'm hoping CW will step and make all of this right. But I don't think it's going to be that easy.

document all of your interactions, keeps notes.. as much as you can stomach. It may come in handy..

Thanks. I wish I would have started documenting back on July 5th of last year instead of March 1st of this year, but I do have some documentations from off and on since July 5th. I always say, 'education is expensive!'

Why haven't you hired an attorney?

Starting to look for one now, because the plot has thickened!

Just curious, what unit did you have that was stolen?
Ken
Winnebago Journey Series M-34B-Cummins 340hp, sorry I've been working. Unlike the individuals at CW, I have to work for a living and now paying for an RV that they gave away, but they don't when and to who!

But I'm looking for a lawyer now, at first Attorney I talked to said try to handle it by myself and if that doesn't work, let him know.... Imagine that.

Really hard to believe that a CW store does not have security video at least watching the driveway. SOME of the CW stores in our area have a fence and gate. Any reputable service center "assumes responsibility" when a unit is in their care. Things like storms can't be controlled but theft certainly would seem to be the stores responsibility.

The CW service department here in Chattanooga just burned flat and they are denying any claims. They even sent a guy his bill for service and his camper was just a frame.......

Interesting situation, I doubt CW will assume any wrongdoing in this matter.
Hopefully you can come to a satisfactory solution. Good luck.
