When Mr Miller designed my coach years ago, he knew this guy was going to have an episode of cerebral flatulence on his first trip out after the onset of the pandemic.

I pulled into one of my favorite coastal parks yesterday and forgot one minor detail when checking my parking job. Thankfully, Mahlon had me covered.

Wowza! I remember another Newmar owner in his Essex (rwillia) that got lucky and had the pedestal go right under the slide after leveling, i.e. if you weren't on air with slides going out or in then he would have hit it. We learn from each other on these situations, I hate these pedestals being so high up that they can be a conflict. Thanks for sharing so others can learn from this and be aware.

I made a mark on my awning hook rod that shows how far my slide comes out (plus a couple inches) and have my DW hold the rod up after I get into a site to make sure I am clear of the pedestal.

Luck was on your side that time! BTW, where is this coastal park?

You’re probably familiar with it, Jim. We are at Camp Hatteras in the OBX.

I am not, but I googled it and wow, what a place! Have fun!

Funny enough I did the same thing on our first trip out after the bull excrement hit the fan.
