Excuse my rant.
Technology provides us great opportunity to close some of the gaps that distance forces. I was very happy to gain remote access to the internal operations of our coach, until I figured out that knowing about an issue and not being able to resolve it would intensify the frustration around the initial identification of a defect. Same too with remote observations; cameras give us a sense of connection when we are away from our rigs. They to can enable us to visually observe our kit from across the world. They also can show us defects in progress. They too can contribute to the sense of frustration when there is no means to correct a developing situation till proximity can be enabled.
That these complicated beast develop issues is not a surprise. I have too many years working around technology to expect perfection. My dilemma, is the curse of the knowledge it is occurring and being powerless to correct or mitigate the situations. Is ignorance truly bliss????
Our latest adventure, that I have painfully watched develop from across the globe over the last few weeks, is our generator slide slowly extending of its own accord. With me 6000 miles away, and DW 400 miles away, there was nothing either of us could do beyond asking a neighbor to tarp it.
Maybe that is the answer, have great neighbors (like us)?! I guess we could go all in and full time, or all out and look for other means of entertainment...
I guess the moral of the story is that bad news also comes with the good news as far as technology is concerned.
Sorry, end of rant.
