I have a Demco Aluminator and Excalibar (different weight ratings) which I bought used about 20 years ago. When I do my own rebuilds every 2 or 3 years, I closely inspect all moving components looking for cracks, wear or elongation then replace the bushings, seals and use grade 8 fasteners to re assemble (the original fasteners were grade 5). All the parts are available. Do yourself a favor, take yours to an expert.

This video was helpful when I first rebuilt mine

I've rebuilt Demco, Blue Ox and Roadmaster tow bars for others (for the cost of parts) and frankly, from that experience, I won't use BO bars or base plates!
