The problem is that in the RV world echo chamber what's obvious to most isn't at all obvious to an unsuspecting first time buyer and that's who are the industries legal prey.I guess they need to blame someone for the poor quality.
As have expectations. I didn't, for example, expect that 3 years on and not coincidentally post warranty, the material used on the Jackknife sofa, dining room cushions and seatbacks, cockpit captains seats, and all the window treatments would have to be replaced. Jayco had been aware of the issue for 10 years prior, but in doing the corporate math, figured the short term advantages in saving money on quality and passing those savings on to shareholders outweighed the negatives. The primary concern for Jayco was, and still apparently is, will this junk hold up at least until our responsibility for it expires. The answer was, it just does, and so for them it's all good.I like Brett Davis’ take on this subject. It’s not that quality has gone down, it’s that complexity has gone way up.
You may be right. However I have only purchased one RV that had a lifetime warranty, and they have been out of business since 1973. Humm wondering if that tells the story.Things were once built to last a lifetime. Now its built to last the lifetime of the LIMITED warrenty
In the book "Everything I Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten" a man drops his shoes off at a cobblers shop to be repaired. He gets his shoes back unrepaired with a cookie wrapped in a paper with a note, " Anything worth doing is worth doing right".You may be right. However I have only purchased one RV that had a lifetime warranty, and they have been out of business since 1973. Humm wondering if that tells the story.
Yeah, my Ram truck came with LIFETIME powertrain warrenty..I read it one day.. 7 yrs or 85k miles..thats their defintion of lifetime..You may be right.
