Greetings,
My wife wants to take a long road trip out west from our home in Kentucky. Outside of a (well) used Winnebago to which my family had access in the 1970s (and for which I was drafted as chief mech) I have no experience with RVs. I have lots of mechanical and aircraft experience, however. So I've glanced through the online inventory and the Jayco Melbourne with its diesel engine seems to meet our needs, but I've no idea how demanding it might be on the maintenance side. Specifically I looked at this one: New 2025 Jayco Melbourne 24L Motor Home Class C - Diesel . We're not towing anything and will be stopping at some motels and PFs along the way. It's just the wife and I and our Amazon Parrot, "Amabelle". The perfect deal would be with a dealer who would contract to return 90% of the cost if it were returned to them in perfect condition in 3 months or 85% if returned within a year kind of thing. No financing needed. This kind of deal may not exist in the RV world but it does in the airplane world so I'm raising the question. Basically we want to travel comfortably with the option to stop and sleep wherever we find ourselves with refrigerator, stove, shower, easy access. Definitely not looking for a travel trailer.
The Entegra Coach, Thor Motor Coach and Winegago Solis Pocket 36A also apparently meet our requirements but I have not been able to investigate those models as yet.
Our Amazon Parrot is depicted below. She is very much looking forward to the trip.
Any thoughts / anecdotes welcomed.
Thank You.
