Interesting how this thing even stays on. Just got it today, haven't installed it yet.

I'm guessing after a few remove and reinstalls those tabs get bent in the wrong direction. Probably needs remove and inspect after a service.
 
Be aware if you hit it too hard trying to seat it flush to the rim you can ding them. Been there done it.

Actually, I think the flange the grippers are attached to get bent inward, lessening the tab pressure holding the cap in place. I suspect that they only go on and off a couple of times before that starts to happen.

I lost a front cover about a year ago. Newmar wanted $110, local Freightliner shop was $25.
 
Not much holding those things on, eh?
