My Kwikee steps hesitate, some times for a few seconds or a couple of minutes. One time, I entered the coach (2002 HR Ambassador) and shut the door and the steps retracted. Upon starting the engine, the steps went out. I opened the door several times and they came back in.

When they retract they do hesitate half way through the cycle. Every thing is well lubricated.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated and contribute to general knowledge on the forum.

Thanks in advance.

Have you been lubricating them regularly?
Have you been stepping on them while they were going out?

Yes and no. They have always worked smoothly. Thanks

I would agree with the lubrication idea. It does sound like the motor is going out. Mine failed on our motorhome of less than 3 years old. Drove home with the steps out and that was interesting. I watched a YouTube video, ordered a motor online and did the job myself. On ours, everything was very accessible. Only took a few minutes and they work fine now. Remember to take a picture on your phone BEFORE taking the current one out. Putting it back in and getting the wires right will be easier.
