We're a year into our new trailer, a small 21 footer, towed by our Sierra 1500 4x4. We are planning our first long trip which will be 6 hours of travel time to our destination. I've never heard anything about taking a break during towing. My question: Should I take a break for a half hour after 3 hours of travel, or am I over-thinking the stress on the truck?

I don't think the truck will mind, but if you can drive six hours straight without anyone in the truck needing a "pit stop," you are way ahead of most of us! :ROFLMAO:

I agree with @TJ&LadyDi, the truck is not the problem. Drive till you think you need a break or want to stretch your legs. We generally limit our travels to 6 hours a day and unless we need fuel we don’t stop. We have a class A, I am used too long stays in the seat as a pilot and DW uses the facilities as necessary ?

The truck will handle the 6 hours of driving. Question is how will you handle 6 hours behind the wheel. I like to have a break after 3 hours behind the wheel to stretch, move around, and take a bio break. We usually find a rest area to have lunch. I can eat while driving but I like to have the break.

Enjoy your travels!!
