Looking For Grand Star Owner

We are looking at the Grand Star 3948. We live in an area with no mountains near by us. I wanted to know how the 360HP 800 ft pounds torque climbs mountains in the west? We want to take a trip to Alaska. This would be number 5 for us and have had some coaches that made it up but we were nervous. I don’t drive over 70 and would like to maintain our speed going up hills. We love the coach but our final decision is knowing we won’t be thinking I hope we can climb this hill. I would appreciate someone with a Grand Star to let me know how it performs on inclines.

Test drove a 34' model. It was on flat ground and took time to get it moving. You will not maintain speeds on mountainous roads with anything less than a 500+. This is an 6.9 800 fp of torque engine pulling 40'. I would guess 35/40 on hills would be the max

Even with the Superstar which is 360 hp and more torque, on a 7% grade going up we are at 35 or so.

As stated unless you get maybe the Supreme air or perhaps the Superstar with the 450 now you will be going slow in the mountains.
They will do it all day long though.
