That's pretty much common in most state parks. The key will be if they enforce it. Is the ban necessary, or another revenue source?

I still bring my own wood with me

From what I saw on my phone, 2027 will be warnings 2028 will be a 1000$ fine for repeat offenders, that's what I was reading. Privet campgrounds included.

Many state have this ruling. They don’t want diseases and bugs to destroy local trees.

They don’t put the bans in place for fun and it’s folks like you that can potentially be a part of the problem. Leave your wood at home and buy a few bundles when you arrive.
Guessing that leash rules and others are something you ignore too.

Been the law in Illinois as long as I've been rv'ng, 2001

We all know why ,change is hard I posted for a information post, not looking for comments, but I do wonder how it will work, Michigan is a big chunk of realestete

I just follow the campground rules and buy the 5$ bundles
Unless I can find Mesquite in the desert, I just use the propane. Not the same ambiance I know but safer and easier to use. I always buy a bag of heat treated Mesquite to take back to Canada for the grandkids campfire.

I never even gave this a thought. We camp in GA SP's very often. I've brought my own firewood several trips, but just checked park rules say not to.

In CA it's even worse. Most campgrounds have eliminated open fires altoghter. We enjoy cooking meals over oak wood however very few allow it now. Of course they state the reason is wildfire; but i suggest that one would have to search very hard to find a wildfire that was started by a pit fire in a campground. At Avila Beach, the Harbor District has banned any wood fires even thougth the campsites are completely asphalt and adjacent to the ocean.

So I would gladly purchase wood from the "camp store" if I could have an open fire.

in our area its more about spreading diseases rather than fire, Dutch elm disease, and others, are spread by moving beetle infected wood
