I have been working on getting MY*JLUR ready as a tow vehicle.

I am using the Maximus-3 tow hooks, so the jeep doesn't look like a toad.

I also installed the 6 way plug to be hidden.

With the factory steel bumper, the access hole is perfect for the umbilical cord. This cord also charges the jeep battery.

The only thing that is visible as far as being a toad is my breakaway box. I tried to hide it around the corner but wasnt convinced that it would pull in a separation. Didnt want to risk it not working properly.

I have a lot of other upgrades to the jeep, including a custom designed 360 view camera system. I will post those details later.

One of the mods I did was to add a light to the tailgate and the rear window. I ordered parts from amazon and spent less than $50 on this simple mod.

The power comes from the 12v accessory power in the rear. This is a battery power connection, so I built a simple circuit to act as a low battery cutout and wired it inline with a toggle switch.

From there I ran 2 pairs of wires to the 2 locations. For the lift gate window, I installed a Deutsch waterproof disconnect next to the factory top disconnect. I then wired the hardtop wiring along the same path as the factory wiring.

I removed the plastic trim to create a notch as an easy exit point to join my led strip.

For the tailgate, I brought a separate harness alongside the factory one.

This routes inside the tailgate, along with my additional rear camera.

The finished product allows me to either have true white light, or red if I want to keep night vision.

Here is a few pictures of MY*JLUR prior to entering the mod shop. I picked up the jeep on Friday, so it was allowed to spend a night in the main garage before being driven to the back shop for "work".

This was Dec 27. As of today, it has only 140 miles and 2 more weeks before it can leave the mod shop.

Really nice work. I don't think I have the gumption to cut right into my Jeep and start making the types of changes you do. But maybe in a few years when I get more comfortable seeing the work you and others do I will take the plunge. My one mod to date - rock rails. Took all of 30 minutes. I really envy people who have the ability to make their vehicles totally custom to completely work for how they want to use them. Happy trails.

Nice! I like how you have the towing setup. I have the factory steel bumper too. I was told by Roadmaster I couldn't do as you did, against my better judgement went with the Roadmaster base plate. I sure like the clean look you have. The way you hid the umbilical cord is nice too. Mine has all kinds of crap hanging from the front end, air hose, plugins, breakaway switches etc. Can't miss that mine is a Toad. Maybe I should paint the attachment points red.

What breaking system are you going to use. I have the AF1 and Roadmaster Sterling? Towbar? I would like to know if you need to raise or lower the MoHo hitch to make it level with you Jeep. I'm thinking I need to lower the MoHo receiver point to level out my tow bar to the Jeep.
