Hi,
My wife and I just bought a 2022 Cougar 22MLS. From all my research, it seems to be a good starting point for building a really nice trailer. Since I'm an electronics geek, I'm already thinking of things I can do to "enhance" the trailer! Unfortunately, it looks like Keystone isn't going to be much help in my enhancement projects (wiring diagrams, schematics, etc.), so it I am going to have to come up with my own documentation unless I can find it from another owner. After going through all that with my last trailer, a little Forest River R-Pod, I've gotten pretty good at crawling around under a trailer on a big piece of cardboard! I'm one of those engineer types that believe in building everything at least 3X maximum specs!
Things I plan to do to the Cougar:
Replace the converter with a higher-rated Progressive Dynamics unit.
Replace the solar controller with a higher-rated Victron unit
Replace the 12V primary wiring with #4 welding cable (both + and - lines) from the battery bank to the converter - no sheet-metal screws to the chassis for ground return!
Replace factory solar panel(s) with a Panasonic EVPV370 Evervolt 370W panel)
Replace existing battery with 2 X 225AH GC-2 golf cart batteries in series
Install an A/C Soft-Start unit so I can run the A/C from a small portable generator
Inverter for boondocking (possibly)
Does anyone out there have any other suggestions for improvements?
