I am pretty sure this is one of the first (if not the first) production version test vehicles. Rory will know. To date two production version test vehicles were built then followed by VIN #1 to #4 with 5 to 7 on the chassis line.

Yes! This is one of the production test units, fully functional. We sent it out with this influencer couple and wildsam for a week to get some real world testing and feedback. A lot more content to come!

@Rory (Lightship Team) ... I enjoyed watching the video, but was zeroing in on any of the clips showing the Lightship in real world use. Not only that, but showing this on the road, and off the road (albeit hard pack clay) was a confidence builder for me.

In terms of marketing and collateral I think there's probably a segment of the audience focused on a new way to access the world via an electric RV, whereas as a customer, however, I'm focused on the implications of my purchase . So if there's any way you can influence content (I'd assume some of my concerns are valid for some if not all of your customers), here's some things that I'd like to see:

1. Charging reality (top of the list) - on the road, and at the campsite

• Which networks actually work best in practice when towing (reliability, stall layout, cable reach, power consistency).
• What charging looks like at busy sites, wait times, etiquette learnings, when it’s reasonable to unhitch vs not, and what you’ve learned the hard way.
• How much planning is truly required vs “pull in and plug in,” especially off major corridors.
• Any surprises around incompatible sites, awkward layouts, or chargers that look fine on apps but fail in reality.

2. Energy reality under stress (note, I'm convinced based on my data, plus the recent data, that aero + trek drive means that any vehicle will get close to baseline mileage efficiency numbers), so my focus would be more on outlier energy draw situations, like energy draw at campsite and cross-wind type situations on highway.

3. System robustness

• What broke or misbehaved even if it was minor.
• Whether issues fail gracefully or create trip-stopping scenarios and what the work-arounds are.
• What can be diagnosed or fixed remotely vs what currently requires hands-on service.

4. Software maturity - less about marketing, more of a position statement from Lightship on how you guys will handle/validate OTAs given the size of the fleet is (currently) small.

I think content that openly covers those areas — especially charging — would be incredibly valuable for buyers who are aligned with the vision but want to understand the true operating envelope, not just the highlight reel.

Looking forward to seeing how the real-world testing feeds back into the product.

@josephpRV noted! I’ll pass along to my marketing director. We’d really like to place a vehicle in the hands of media soon for a full review that hits these points.
