We purchased a new Coachman Spiritlite 2557RB a couple of years. We've been out with it a few times and really do like it but will probably sell the house and purchase a bigger 5th wheel within a couple of years.

In the meantime I am going to be asking some maintenance questions regarding a leak and a water heater.

Thank you for having such a cool and groovy website (just dated myself :) )

Welcome! Great to have you with us.

I gotta ask Doug.... selling your house and moving into a trailer, how much investigating into such a life style have you done in that regards?
I ask because my wife is always saying that when we are out enjoying are trailer.....but a week or 3 is a lot different than FOREVER

Welcome

Oh yeah we've watched all the or at least a herd of youtube videos, the one that really scares me is the lady that seems to take care of the Trailers that have serious problems and the dealer and manufacturer do absolutely nothing to help fix the problems. One couple bought theirs brand new and started having problems from the get go. resulting in the RV sitting at the dealers for months and nothing getting fixed. it looked like a total nightmare.
One good thing is my wife and I drove and 18 wheeler together for years and so we know 100% we can live together in an RV, We think we'd like one in the 38 foot range. That sure beats a Freightliner or Kenworth any ol day. :)

We've also talked about leasing out our home also instead of selling it.
The home has been in my family since 1962, my grandma and grandpa bought it, when my grandma passed away, my mom got it. When mu Mom passed away, it was my turn to get it.

As such, there's a huge amount of good memories here.
We've added a good 100K in upgrades.
A new HUGE covered patio.
New kitchen. New baths, new flooring and 38 solar panels on the roof, along with a New roof. Oh and pulled all the old piping out and replaced with PEX and new 90 gallon hot water heater and new Gas Insert fireplace.
we already understand that when we retire, more than likely we won't be able to afford to live here. We live in Washington state and good lord, all the taxes are such a PITA.

Hey Doug...... we live in Washington state too.
I am on Whidbey Island, where are you?
I hesitate selling our home which is just about paid off, and in a year I will be made to start pulling from my IRA at a minimum withdrawal rate, gubbermint don't want us having money just setting there, they want their grubby hands on it to buy their lavish lifestyles.
With just the first years requirement it would just about pay off our mortgage which is almost all principal now, so as an asset, it will appreciate or decline without any input from me.
But reality is just that, I am getting to the point its just too much property for me to maintain, and I am a tight wad and don't want to pay others to do it.....
I guess I could go the VRBO route and allow it to be written off as a business, and still like your Grand Parents, Parents, pass it on to our kids.
The "road" does hold lots of appeal, and of course we would have to step up to larger accommodations as well, sticking to larger facilities instead of the state campgrounds we enjoy the most.....
Our kids still live in southern California and have begged us to move back, I just ain't ready to do that, its not the same place I grew up in way back when.
I think next year when I am forced to make changes to my life, I will take my inventory and my health, into consideration and make the best choice at that point in time.
Cashing in with property should in my opinion be the last resort in markets that generally hold strong over the years.
Thanks for sharing buddy, GOOD LUCK on your endeavor, be safe and blessed!

Definitely something to consider. Full time is a lifestyle that you're suited for, or not!
It has little to do with equipment, and more about attitude.

No one can tell you! No one can show you. No rig can comfort you when frustration arises.

You will only know, when you realize the time living in an RV always seems to short!

You will both be assessing the life as individuals, so be prepared to find it doesn't work for both of you!!!
