Welcome!

Go to the ram website and put your vin number in and get the data for your build! Then multiply gcvw by. .80 for the maximum weight you should tow!

On your selected RV make sure they don't void warranty if you use an equalizer hitch!

I didn't fill in details on rv information as we haven't actually purchased one yet. We are looking for something around 26' . Have several in mind but having a hard time figuring out what we can tow or accepting what we can or can't tow. I have 1/2 ton and would rather not have to buy 3/4 ton but may not have much choice to get what we want instead of settling on what we can actually tow.

Here are the numbers on my truck
Curb weight 5302lbs completely empty
Cargo capacity 1444lbs
Gvwr 7100lbs
Hitch weight 500lbs
Max trailer weight 5000lbs
Gcvwr 11,610lbs

So 5000 is based on hitch weight (500lbs). An equalizer hitch can relieve the hitch of some weight, however if you load up the truck then 5000 is a reasonable gross weight for the trailer.

You can fudge the numbers some, by how you load the truck, but that is your trailer weight magic number!
