Well, after 6 years of towing the Hyundai Elantra Sport behind our coaches it was time for something different. Will miss just putting the six speed in neutral and releasing parking brake to tow.

A lot of searching found us a 2022 Cherokee Trailhawk. Picked it up yesterday. Having an automatic for a change is kind of nice in traffic 😊

Now to get everything installed to actually tow it.

My wife has the same car, any chance you can keep us posted on time and cost of the installation ?

We have a 2021 Cherokee Trailhawk. Love it. It tows nicely behind the motorhome, and although not as easy as "putting your 6 speed in neutral and releasing the parking brake" it's relatively easy to get into tow mode. My wife likes it so well that she uses it as her personal car.

The quote I received from a local installer in Florida was $5300 all in. Checking with people at the resort we winter in, the dealer is not the least expensive but they are the best. Not a setup to try and save a couple bucks on 😊

That includes new 10k tow bar, wiring for lights, baseplate install, stay and play braking with remote display, charging circuit for Jeep.

Total time for install is 1 1/2 days.

Looking at the different baseplates available for the Cherokee, some do require additional holes drilled. The ones we are getting use existing setup for the tow hooks so no new holes in the frame.

Was pleasantly surprised with the price as that is pretty close to what setting up the Hyundai was 6 years ago.
