I live in NL and travel off the rock in my RV on a regular basis - You will need to book the ferry and campgrounds at the earliest opportunity as they book fast. If booking a night crossing you need a cabin and they go very quickly - you are not allowed to stay in your rig during the crossing. Other option is a day crossing and then camp for the night there are campground close at either arrival port Port Aux Basque (West Coast & 7 hour crossing) or Argentia (East Coast & 15 hour crossing) - consider arriving in one and departing from the other. The drive across the island is basically 10 hours east to west. If you are not familiar with NL you do not want to drive the highways after dark as Moose vehicle collisions are an issue. All that said its a trip that is very well worth the time - give yourself enough time to get around it is a very big land mass with lots to experiance.Planning trip to Newfoundland for the end of summer 2023. How far in advance should we start booking RV campgrounds? Will primarily stay in privately owned campgrounds.
Thx Dave-We have already book the ferry including pet friendly cabins for night crossings. Do u have a general idea when the campgrounds will start taking reservations for next summer?I live in NL and travel off the rock in my RV on a regular basis - You will need to book the ferry and campgrounds at the earliest opportunity as they book fast. I would think the private ones will start in the new year the Provincial and National ones usually March time frame. It tends to be all over the place as our camping season doesnt really start until late May (May 24th long weekend traditionally)Thx Dave-We have already book the ferry including pet friendly cabins for night crossings.
